Technology At Sacred Heart

Sacred Heart has always being in the forefront of technology and has one of the most Hi-Tech campuses in the city. Sacred Heart has a WiFi campus with its various blocks (Convent, KG , Primary, Secondary, Sen. Secondary ,Admistrative) connected to the Server using wireless Fidelity. The school has four excellent computer labs. Our students have unlimited access to computers and the professional software tools that go with them. Our teaching laboratories are equipped with 60 Pentium 3.2 HT multimedia PC S all networked to common file servers and connected to the outside world via the internet.
Our School has implemented an innovative ERP solution which helps in managing, monitoring and controlling all the activities of education and management. Our dynamic and tech-savvy staff are provided with wireless PC’s in each staff room to design lessons which sharpen the analytical skills of our students, stretch their creative talents to design new concepts and give them the confidence to sell their ideas to a waiting World. Sacred Heart Honoured by Bishop’s Visit

Children’s Day celebrations were held in Sacred Heart Sen. Sec. School B.R.S. Nagar Ludhiana with great zeal and enthusiasm. With a song in their hearts, a smile on their lips and flowers in their hands, children gave a traditional welcome to His Excellency, Rt. Rev. Dr. Anil Jose Thomas Cuto, the Bishop of Jalandhar, the Patron of the school and extended their heartfelt gratitude for gracing the occasion with his benign presence. The programme commenced with the Prayer Dance invoking God’s blessings. Father Davis, the Director of the school introduced the Patron of the school to the students. Bishop in his message congratulated the students on Children’s Day and called upon them to be the righteous citizens of tomorrow. Sr. Sobel, the Principal of the school enlightened the students and inspired them to come forward and realize their responsibility to face the challenges of life. Children recalled the works of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru and took an oath to follow his principles. Welcome song by teachers, Unity in Diversity by tiny tots, English Play, Quawali, English song and Folk Dance were highly applauded by the guests and the audience. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and school anthem.

An orientation Programme on "Effective Parenting "
An orientation Programme “Effective Parenting – A splendid torch to illumine a child’s mind and life” was held from 25th march to 27th March for the parents of new nursery kids at St. Mary’s Kindergarten. The Principal Sr. Sobel addressed parents and gave them valuable and knowledgeable tips for the effective parenting. It was explained that the values we as parents choose to influence our children with, have to be carefully considered. Different activities conducted during the session were shown with the help of a slide show and then importance was clearly defined. Do’s and Dont’s were also briefed for the better adjustment of blooming buds in the new environment. After the Orientation Programme parents interacted with the class teachers of their children.

Bishop’s Golden Jubilee Celebrated
Sacred Heart Sen. Sec. School B.R.S Nagar, Ludhiana, celebrated the priestly ordination of the founder Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Symphorian Keeprath. A warm welcome was accorded to him by the students. The function on this auspicious occasion began with the prayer dance invoking God’s blessings on the founder patron. The day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and floral tributes were paid to the Bishop who dedicated his life to the service of humanity by spreading quality education. A play “Bishop’s Candlesticks” highlighted the glory of religion and righteousness over sin. Promoting the message of peace, scintillating dances were presented amalgamating the western and classical dances. The Bishop in his message urged students to lead an exemplary life illuminating the hearts and minds of the society. Rev. Father Davis congratulated the Rev. Bishop on this occasion and wished him well. School Principal Rev. Sr. Sobel while speaking on the occasion extended her heartfelt felicitations and gratitude to the Bishop and described him as a great visionary.

Sacred Heart Sen.Sec.School ,BRS Nagar formally constituted the new school cabinet for the session 2008-09 on 21st April.
The ceremony began with a prayer service followed by an inspirational message by the Principal Sr. Sobel to the office bearers to be sincere in all their endevours and dutiful.
Sr. Sobel administered the oath and badged the proud members of the cabinet.

Academic Achievers Rewarded in the School
Sincere efforts bore fruit for students who toiled with amazing consistency when they were honoured in the Prize Distribution Function.
Success, determined by foresight, relentless pursuit and commitment of the pupils in their studies was applauded and praised .After a solemn prayer service, the toppers of every class received certificates and mementos. The X, XII CBSE toppers were also complimented for their perseverance. Position holders and toppers in every subject were felicitated for their praiseworthy efforts.
Bindia Mullick Memorial Trophy was presented to Ishant Nayer of class X for scoring the highest marks in Social Science(CBSE)..
A large number of students having full attendance were praised for their regularity and presented certificates.
Father Davis, the Director of the School, give away the prizes and felicitated the achievers.

Sister Sobel, The Principal, congratulated all the winners for attaining glorious heights and blessed them. She also motivated the rest of the students to work hard and achieve success.

MAY DAY CELEBRATIONS IN SACRED HEART SCHOOL
International Labour Day was celebrated in Sacred Heart Sen. Sec. School , BRS Nagar , with great zeal and enthusiasm.

A hearty welcome was given to the workers of the school which was followed by a prayer song and a ceremonial prayer dance.

A housewise group song competition,with the theme of “Work is Worship ” was held on the occasion .The primary students presented an amusing item , “ Hasya Kavi Sammelan” .

The workers were felicitated by the Director , Rev. Father Davis ,who appreciated the services of the labour class and urged upon the need for due recognition for them .He emphasized that their services should be acknowledged and honoured as they are the backbone of the society. The programme ended with a colorful folk dance.

A lunch was organized for the workers after school.
The workers also thanked the school for appreciating their efforts .

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR ORGANISED AT SACRED HEART
Sacred Heart Sen. Sec. School, BRS Nagar, in association with Scholastic India, organized a Book Fair in the school campus from 1st to 3rd May, 2008, to promote the spirit and essence of reading in children. Students got a wonderful opportunity to browse through and select books from an array of books- fiction, non-fiction, reference, best sellers, activity books etc. The Principal, Sr. Sobel inaugurated the fair and affirmed that Readers are Leaders and added that such fairs are bound to enhance good reading skills as reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.

“ Eemaan Thind Felicitated ”
Eemaan Thind , a student of XI , Sacred Heart Sen. Sec. School , BRS Nagar , has brought laurels to the institution by qualifying as the ‘State Winner’ from Punjab in the annual Environmental Examination ‘The GREEN Olympiad‘ organized by TERI during the year 2007. She is also the proud recipient of scholarship worth Rs 3000/- from the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India.
Expressing joy over the excellent achievement, The Director, Rev. Father Davis, the Principal Rev. Sister Sobel and the staff have congratulated her. A special ceremony in the school will be organized to felicitate her. It is matter of great pride for all Sacred Heartians as she has done them proud by winning accolades.

Adieu to Rev. Father Davis
After the glorious and fruitful service of eleven long years, the Director of Sacred Heart Sen. Sec. School, B.R.S Nagar, Ludhiana, Rev. Father Davis was given a touching farewell. To invoke the blessings of God, the function started with prayer song, followed by lighting of the lamp by Rev, Father Davis. Thereafter, he was extended a floral welcome by the students and teachers.
A colourful cultural programme was performed by the students and faculty members of the school. The tiny tots presented foot tapping dance numbers. The students enacted an English Play- “India is a cradle of Religions” which was well received by the audience. The Principal, Rev. Sister Sobel, speaking on the occasion, felicitated Rev. Father Davis having completed his innings in the school successfully. She lauded his achievements and wished him well in the coming years. Dignified in disposition, generous, gentle and graceful in every endeavour, the outgoing director, Rev. Father Davis, in all humility gave credit to God for all his achievements. He wished the school would go from strength to strength in the coming years. He will be remembered as kind and benevolent human being who worked tirelessly for the betterment of the students. Everyone in the school wished him good health and prayed that he would achieve many more milestones in his life.

Orientation Program on Effective English Teaching
To enhance the teaching caliber of teachers and to broaden their mental horizons and ‘Effective English Teaching Workshop’ was conducted in Sacred Heart Sen. Sec. School, B.R.S Nagar, Ludhiana.
Rev. Father. Francis.M.Peter, thoroughly influential recourse person and a great visionary aptly illustrated the intricacies of English Language Teaching. Rev. Father is currently the Secretary and correspondent of Loyola College, Reader in English and Director of the Academy for Cumulative Excellence, Loyola. The intellectual discourse flooded with new and innovative ideas refreshed the teachers and motivated them to make the teaching of English more dynamic and reality oriented. More than hundred English teachers from different branches of Sacred Heart Schools attended the Academic Workshop and derived great benefit from it.
Sr. Sobel the Principal of the School, presented a token of gratitude to Rev. Father for inspiring the English Teaching Faculty with the essentials of pedagogy.
The workshop was organized by Ratna Sagar Pvt. Ltd. Under the able guidance of Mr. Sunil Saraf, Mr. Mukul Kumar and Mr. Sunil Sharma.

GOOD HEALTH MONTH CELEBRATED
Health promoting introductory lectures were delivered in Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, BRS Nagar ,from 12thAUGUST,2008 to 26th August,2008 in collaboration with the Sampoorna Health Foundation . Under the able guidance of Rev.Sister Sobel, the month of August was taken up as the Good Health Month at the school.
The Good Health Program covered lectures for the students of classes I to XII .
Dr. Suneet Aurora guided the senior students about the principles of Stress Management. Being a pshyco analyst, he told them the tips to avoid stress especially during the exams. The senior students and teachers enjoyed a short and effective meditation session. He also delivered talks and lectures for students of junior and the senior wing of the school regarding the preventive aspect of General Health and understanding and avoiding the disease process by following the principles of right living and right diet.
Junior students were made aware of the Dental and General health- by a renowned cosmetic dental surgeon , Dr. Atamjeet Singh.
Dr. Preeti Aurora and Dr. Inderpreet Kaur delivered talks for adolescent girl students and the young girl students respectively. They emphasized on the need of good diet among the students.
It was indeed a refreshing and health oriented period for students as well as the teachers.

Teacher’s Day Celebrated at Sacred Heart
To honour their teachers and show them how much they are loved and respected, the students of Sacred Heart Sen. Sec. School held a day long celebration on the occasion of Teacher’s Day. Colourful decorations and scintillating performances by children made the celebration an assorted blend of festivity and fun. Where the tiny tots of the school with their foot-tapping dance made every heart sway in rhythm, the primary section students on the other hand bewitched everyone with their dramatic dexterity. Through an impressive enactment these little children reiterated the importance of teachers in a student’s life. What really proved to be an icing on the cake were the fun filled dances staged by the senior most children. A mesmerising guitar performance by XI students infact stole the whole show.

The Principal of the school, Rev. Sr. Sobel greeted the teachers on this occasion and reminded students of the indispensable role played by teachers in shaping their character.

“ World Ozone Day celebrated"
Students of XI of Sacred Heart Sr. Sec. School B.R.S. Nagar celebrated World Ozone Day to highlight dangers of depleting Ozone layer of the atmosphere. Students prepared a presentation to create an awareness on harmful effects of Ozone depletion, its causes, effects and preventive measures. This was depicted with colourful charts prepared by the students. The senior students went into 6th, 7th and 8th standards and made the students aware of the harmful effects of CFC’s and other harmful gases which are responsible for creating a hole in the Ozone Layer. Students took pledge and resolved to minimize pollution and use of other industrial chemicals and to protect earth from harmful effects of Ultra Violet Radiations caused due to depletion of Ozone layer.
The Principal of the school Rev. Sr. Sobel emphasized the need to save Mother Earth by doing our bit and curbing all those actions leading to the extinction of mankind.
